About Design Part II

In the previous article I talked about Design being inside you every one of us!

-Why is that?

Think about that for a second.

-Great!

Everything starts at the age of 3, when you start having a strong opinion about your clothes… Well now you have (in case you didn't at the age of 3!). Colours, shapes, way you move, things you like, things you dislike, things you love and hate!

Design is not about something being just “good looking”, its about something being extremely functional and don't-mess-with-my-life easy to use, combined with I-was-made-with-love! Think of a chair, or a tooth brush, or your computer's mouse or even a café that you like. Think of the same things(again), but this time ones that you don't really like. Although, they exist to provide you with exactly the same services, instead they really piss you off! Why don't you like these ones? What divides them from the ones you like? What defines them?

-What Design is-

“Design is about demonstrating how beautiful something can be”

-Under this consideration, design IS(hopefully) or Should be inside our everyday way of acting!

Design= Passion.

{Ι} Design = I express myself with PASSION.

I AM SAYING SOMETHING OBVIOUS:

I am saying something EXTREMELY obvious: 
Design = Soul

Design = Passion

Design = Getting away from the sidelines!

Design = Stop being Neutral!

Design = Care about my eyes, my senses, my feelings, me!

I AM SAYING SOMETHING OBVIOUSLY IMPOSSIBLE:

I am saying communicate from your soul. I am saying create, give, accept, from the inner you. I am saying something obviously impossible to achieve! But, I am not saying that. What I am saying is try (TRY!) to do that. Try to keep this kind of consideration under your everyday considerations. Try to familiarize with that point of view, try to re-think and re-learn it every day. All that matters is trying (TR-YI-NG.) Every day! But, are you going to achieve anything by doing that? Yes, you are going to achieve everything. You will stretch your sensitivity, expand your sensation and sharp your imagination. And why should that be everything? I am asking you! Comment me! AGREE, GET ANGRY, DISAGREE, DO SOMETHING (with PASSION_)!

A mistake is something that you do without being sure if it will work. In fact, a mistake is something that you do, while not being sure at all if it will work. And guess what. It doesn't. And guess twice, you just saved your life! You saved yourself from conscious unawareness, from inactivity, from fear!  FEAR!

TAKE DESIGN YOUR SOUL SERIOUSLY... IN LIFE

Take your feelings seriously! Take Design seriously in everything you do regarding your everyday life. Everyday messages that you give and receive. LOVE (and say it!) what you like. Do anything to change what you dislike. Turn the world upside down to achieve it.

TAKE DESIGN YOUR SOUL SERIOUSLY... IN BUSINESS

Mind (for) your business. Design it to present YOU. What YOU like. Stop wondering about what people/customers/market/stakeholders would like. What do YOU need?

Do people/customers/market/etc. need it too? Great! Do it! NOW!

Believe in yourself, in your team-mates, in your business. Believe in the vision you believe. Believe and Care! If you don't, who will? None.

-What is that strange word called “branding” for a business?

It's about showing people who you are, promoting an attractive external image of your company. Correct? NO! Branding is much deeper... Branding is INTERNAL! Successful branding at least. Its about showing YOURSELF who you are. About setting the wanted image in your company.

-Make Clear to you what is that you want-

-What is that you have to offer to society-

-Identify the reason you exist-

-Identify and Characterise your business in One Single Word!-

To offer to society. That is the main and major reason you exist. Making Sales, Earning Money, is just something that results from doing business. Vital though, but its just one result. It's not the reason why you exist.

That is the point!

Branding is much more INTERNAL than external.

Most people, most businesses, most organisations, most whatever, just don't get it! The reason why businesses exist! The reason why we do what we do! The reason why they do what they do! What's the point?

Money is not the point!

Money is just a result!

The point is Survival!

The point is Response!

We work to survive, because there is no other way fulfilling our needs. Nature fulfils only one need (though the most necessary one): Breathing. Only that one. That's it! No computers, no TVs springing out of the ground, no transportation, no bread, no water in many cases, no clothes, no nothing. We have to work to get them!

We work design-driven, to differentiate, to fulfil our love, esteem and self actualisation needs. To express ourself and enjoy response!

TAKE DESIGN PASSION FOR JOY SERIOUSLY... IN SCHOOLS

Matter of fact, take design INSAINLY seriously in schools! Elementary school, high school, higher institutes, everything!

• Stop caring about creating robo-employees

• Start Caring about creating sensitive human beings!
• Stop asking only for the right answers
• Argue on unanswered questions!
• Stop punishing mistakes
• Encourage good use of them!
• Stop supporting individualistic behaviour
• Support team-play!
• Throw away AND BURN those awesomely boring and completely stupid two-seater school desks
• Bring enjoying and team-play-promoting big round tables with 6-7 people sitting there and interacting!
• Play GAMES in high schools! Play games in Universities (|M-U-S-T|)
• Teach children practical staff for G*d sake! Is it possible to be 18 years old and not knowing how to sweep a floor?! How to cook an egg?! How to screw a tap?! But able to VOTE?!
